How Applications are Evaluated
An applicant must meet the eligibility requirements and submit a completed application with all required supporting documents in order to have his/her application reviewed. Within two weeks of receiving the completed application and documentation, CERF+ will notify the applicant if he/she has been determined to qualify for assistance. Successful applicants will receive notification that includes the award amount and information regarding other assistance CERF+ may be able to provide.
CERF+'s decision about the amount of funding, the type of funding (grant and/or loan) and an applicant’s access to other services shall be based on the criteria listed below. The weight given each criterion varies depending on the type of assistance.
Grants
- Severity of emergency
- Quality of applicant's work
- Professionalism (as indicated by submitted materials)
- Impact of the grant on the applicant's ability to recover
- Impact the applicant's career has had on the craft field (local, regional, or national)
Loans
- Ability of the applicant to assume additional debt (Credit score determines the initial maximum potential loan. A relatively low level of annual gross business receipts reported to the IRS can reduce the loan amount after all other creteria is considered.)
- The degree to which the applicant has shown their craft business activity will meet the repayment obligations of the loan
- Quality of applicant's work
- Professionalism (as indicated by submitted materials)
- Impact the applicant's career has had on the craft field (local, regional, or national)
