CERF+ Extends Insurance Survey to Members of Craft Media Organizations
A survey that was developed by CERF+ and The Furniture Society and conducted with Furniture Society members in February 2007 will serve as the prototype of a national survey of craft artists on the topic of business insurance. CERF+ is now preparing to extend the survey to members of other craft media groups. "We want to compare business data, claims history, and other factors of artists working in different craft media, as well as to look at the craft field as a whole," said CERF+ Director of Programs, Craig Nutt who is spearheading this effort.
CERF+ has several partner organizations lined up to participate in the survey, and is seeking others. Membership organizations who are interested in participating in the survey may contact Craig Nutt.
New CERF+ Charm
CERF+’s 2007 limited edition charm created by metalsmith Boris Bally is now available for sale. Bally’s hammer charm is a metaphor for what CERF+ means to him, "CERF+ helps crafts people rebuild." The charm has a silver hammer head and an oxidized bronze handle and sells for $45. A small fundraising project started in 2002, CERF+ charms have been designed and made by Susan Skinner, Karen Krieger, Lisa & Scott Cylinder (Chickenscratch), Emily Rosenfeld, Thomas Mann, and Boris Bally. CERF+ charms and chains may be purchased online at the CERF+ Store.
A Month for CERF+
Sixty-four craft related businesses have already signed on to participate in CERF+’s annual nationwide fundraising event, A Month for CERF+. As participants of A Month for CERF+, galleries, online markets, show producers, and individual craft artists have pledged to contribute a minimum of $100 to CERF+ and many of these supporters are planning fundraising events for September that will bring CERF+ to the public’s attention. In 2006, A Month for CERF+ raised $43,400. Sign-ups for this year’s event are still welcome. Contact Elissa Campbell or call (802) 229-2306. You can view a full listing of the A Month for CERF+ 2007 participants on our website.
